Seat belts are an effective remedy of protection of the driver and passengers in case of the road accident.

All passengers need to be fastened by seat belts prior to the movement of the car including to passengers on back seats. It is forbidden by one belt to fasten several people. It is extremely dangerous to fix a belt of the child sitting on a lap at the passenger. Between a seat belt and a body there should not be firm or fragile objects as they can become the reason of serious injuries.

Fasten a seat belt in the following order:

– slowly extend a belt from the involving device. At a pulling the belt is blocked by breakthrough;

– throw a belt through a breast and a belt;

– implant into the lock before click a belt latch uvula;

– check reliability of fastening of a belt in the lock.

The diagonal seat belt has to settle down on the center of a shoulder (fig. 1.7) . The lower part of a belt has to be on a belt, but not on a stomach. The seat belt provides the maximum protection at vertical position of a seatback. The right choice of length of a belt provides its most comfortable position depending on growth and build of the person. Length of a belt is regulated by movement of a clip on it.

The seat belt pressing the orange button of the lock comes unfastened: the lock opens, the uvula of a latch of a belt jumps out under pressure of a spring. After that it is necessary to release slowly a belt, at the same time it will be curtailed by the involving device.

The back average seat can be equipped with a zone seat belt. A latch and the lock of this belt same, as at a diagonal and zone belt.

Moving a latch on a belt, it is possible to change the working length of a belt (fig. 1.8) .

Automatic shoulder straps of safety of 1 (fig. 1.9) with the electric drive can be established only on front seats. The emergency tension of these belts is carried out by system of passive safety of the car. After closing of doors and inclusion of ignition the top lock 2 seat belts move back, on a door window frame, and fixes the driver's case. After switching off of ignition and opening of a door the top lock of a seat belt moves forward and does not interfere with an exit from the car. If the seat belt does not work in the automatic mode, exempt the top lock from the device of movement of a belt and fix the lock in a nest 3 on an average rack of the car.

For no-failure operation of the mechanism of a tension preserve belts against pollution.

Belts which were exposed to severe stretching at accident should be replaced.

At influence of sunshine and chemicals the tape of a belt loses durability. When losing initial coloring (fading) the belt should be replaced.

Wash out belts only in weak soap solution. Before retraction of belts carefully dry them.

Make sure that belts are not overwound as a result of their wrong installation. If belts are overwound or jam at retraction, extend a belt at length sufficient in order that it could be corrected. Then release a belt that it returned to a starting position.

Completely extend a belt and release that it was involved up to the end. If the belt jams at the movement in both directions, check its surface for availability of dirt or lubricant.

Check a condition of all places of fastening of a belt. Bolts of fastening have to be reliably tightened. Remove any traces of corrosion in places of fastening it to a body. Replace the fastening details struck with corrosion.

The seat belt assembled needs to be replaced at detection of the following malfunctions and damages:

– the lock of a belt is fixed unreliably;

– the button of the lock of a belt weakened;

– the lock does not release a belt when pressing the button;

– the effort necessary for release of a belt increased;

– on the surface of the lock or a latch cracks appeared;

– ruptures of threads or razlokhmachivaniye;

– cuts of eyelets on belt edges;

– curvature and cuts of a belt.
