The four-stage automatic transmission with electronic control can be installed on the car.

The choice of the mode of the movement is carried out by the switch 1 (fig. 1.22) . Distinguish two modes of the movement — economic "E" and sports "S". Switching can be carried out also at the movement of the car.

At inclusion of economy mode of the movement ("E") first of all the highest, and then lowest transfers therefore fuel consumption decreases join.

At the sports mode ("S") first of all the lowest, then highest transfers join. In this mode engine capacity is more fully used. Switching to the lowest transfers is carried out with a bigger frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine in comparison with the E mode.

The set mode remains also after an engine stop. It is possible to change the mode only the switch.

At failure of electronic control the automatic transmission can work in emergency operation according to two programs:

– the transmission switches transfers, as before, but at the same time additional mechanical efforts are required;

– the transmission does not work in the automatic mode.

In the second case it is possible to switch over switchings to the mechanical mode, but at the same time in provisions "D", "3" and "2" (see fig. 22) only the third transfer will be included. If the selector 2 is in situation "1" or "R", then the transmission works in the usual mode, i.e. turns on respectively the first or back transfers. In both cases it is necessary to ask for the help on service station.

At the included ignition the lever 2 choice of transfers in situation "P" or "N" are blocked. It is necessary for prevention of casual inclusion of transfer. For an unblocking of the lever 2 press on a pedal of a brake and the button 3.

The special device prevents blocking of the lever in situation "N" at gear shifting, for example with "R" on "D". Blocking works when at the released brake pedal the lever 2 is in situation "N" more than 1 page. At a speed of movement over 5 km/h blocking of the lever in situation "N" is automatically turned off.

Provisions of the lever of the choice of transfers (see fig. 1.22 ):

– "Р" ("Parking"). This situation should be chosen only at a car stop. Driving wheels are blocked and interfere with movement of the car. It is also necessary to turn on the parking brake. It is forbidden to install the lever in situation "P" at the movement of the car. The lever 2 is transferred to situation "P" and brought out of it with simultaneous pressing of the button 3;

– "R" ("Backing"). This situation should be chosen if the car is stopped and the engine idles. To transfer the lever of the choice of transfers 2 of situation "P" or "N" to situation "R" press a pedal of a brake and the button 3 on the lever. At installation of the lever 2 in situation "R" at the included ignition backing light lamps light up;

– "N" ("Neutral situation"). This situation should be chosen at start-up and operation of the engine idling. To unblock the lever 2 choice of transfers in situation "N" at a speed of car up to 5 km/h or the motionless car at the included ignition, press a pedal of a brake and the button 3 on the lever;

– "D" ("Advance"). In this situation depending on loading of the engine, speed of the movement and the chosen mode of the movement ("Е" or "S") one of four transfers of the forward course automatically joins;

– "3", it is recommended for movement along uneven roads. In this position of the lever depending on loading of the engine, speed of the movement and the chosen mode ("Е" or "S") the second or third transfers automatically join, the fourth transfer is blocked. It is recommended to establish situation "3" if at the chosen situation "D" the frequency of switchings with the fourth increases by the third transfer and vice versa;

– "2", it is recommended for the movement in the mountain area. Such situation is chosen at the movement without trailer on roads with rises or descents in mountains or at the movement with a speed up to 40 km/h. In this situation depending on loading of the engine, speed of the movement and the chosen mode ("Е" or "S") only the first and second transfers automatically join;

– "1", it is recommended for movement along roads with big biases. For installation of the lever 2 in this situation press the button 3 on it. The car will move only on the first transfer.

The automatic transmission has the device of compulsory inclusion of a low gear kick-down. It allows a box to switch automatically to lower transfer if loops of an accelerator it is already pressed against the stop, and load of the engine continues to increase. Switching to higher transfer happens after the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine becomes maximum.

Recommendations about operation of the car with the automatic transmission:

1. The engine can be launched only in position "N" or "P" of the lever of the choice of transfers.

2. Before switching of the lever on the motionless car with the working engine it is necessary to press a brake pedal. When switching the lever do not press an accelerator pedal. If during the movement of the car situation "N" is incidentally established, then before switching to transfer of the forward course release a pedal of an accelerator and switch the lever only during the operation of the engine idling.

3. Before a start of motion establish required position of the lever ("R", "D", "3", "2" or "1"), be convinced that transfer joined (easy breakthrough), and smoothly press an accelerator pedal.

4. At short-term stops it is possible not to transfer the lever to situation "N", and it is enough to slow down and transfer the engine to the idling mode.

5. At the parking of the car on the horizontal platform transfer the lever 2 to situation "P". On the platform with a bias in addition turn on the parking brake.

6. At towage of the car ignition has to be included, and the lever has to be in situation "N". The distance of towage should not exceed 80 km, and the speed of the movement – 50 km/h as there can be damages of details of a box because of insufficient lubricant. In need of transportation of the car on bigger distance it is necessary to resort to the help of the tow truck.
