Repair Volkswagen Passat B3-B4/Passat B3-B4>> Engines>> Petrol engine of configuration of VR6>> Repair of a head of the block of cylinders Dismantling of a head of the block of cylinders is carried out in the following order:
– remove a head of the block of cylinders from the engine (see subsection 3.2.5);
– turn off bolts 6 (see
fig. 3.44
) fastenings of the lower section of an inlet collector and remove section 7;
– turn off nuts 5 (see
fig. 3.45
) fastenings of sections of a final collector and remove section 4;
– turn off bolts of 4

of fastening of asterisks of camshafts, keeping them from a provorachivaniye a nut key for hexagons of A, vyfrezerovanny on them, and remove asterisks 2;
– turn off nuts of fastening of covers of bearings No. 1 and 7
(fig. 3.48)
of the camshaft and uncover;
– turn off nuts of fastening of covers of bearings No. 3 and 5. Nuts need to be turned off serially cross-wise on a half of a turn for one pass until they cannot be turned off manually;
– uncover bearings No. 3 and 5;
– remove the camshaft of the drive of valves of cylinders No. 1, 3 and 5;
– turn off nuts of fastening of a cover of the bearing No. 4 and uncover;
– turn off nuts of fastening of covers of bearings No. 2 and 6. Nuts need to be turned off serially cross-wise on a half of a turn for one pass until they cannot be turned off manually;
– uncover bearings No. 2 and 6;
– remove the camshaft of the drive of valves of cylinders No. 2, 4 and 6;
– take hydraulic pushers 5 (see
fig. 3.47
) from a head of the block of cylinders, put pushers in the place of storage as removal for the subsequent their correct installation on the places;
– squeeze a valve spring special adaptation (see
fig. 3.15
) and take crackers 6 (see
fig. 3.47
) the valve;
– remove the top plate 7 and springs of the 8 and 9 valve;
– take the valve 12 of a head of the block of cylinders from the combustion chamber;
– remove other valves, clear valves of a deposit a wire brush, wash out them in kerosene and dry;
– place sets of valvate mechanisms in separate plastic bags and mark packages for the subsequent correct installation of valves on the places;
– remove oil scraper caps 10 by means of special capture.
– clear and blow compressed air all threaded connections of a head of the block of cylinders;
– clear and wash out crackers, springs and nests in kerosene, then carefully dry up them.
Recommendations about cleaning and sink of details of a head of the block of cylinders are provided in subsection 3.1.7.
Operations of fault detection of camshafts and hydraulic pushers are described in subsection 3.1.5.
Fault detection of a head of the block of cylinders of the AAA engine is carried out in the sequence described in subsection 3.1.7.

Minimum admissible distance of A (see
fig. 3.19
) from an end face of a rod of the inlet valve to the top plane of a head of the block of cylinders makes 33,9 mm, the final valve – 34,1 mm.
Fault detection of details of the valvate mechanism is carried out in the sequence described in subsection 3.1.7.
Assembly of a head of the block of cylinders is carried out in the following order:
– collect valvate mechanisms (see subsection 3.1.7);
– establish previously greased hydraulic pushers on the places in a head of the block of cylinders;
– oil necks of camshafts pure engine and install camshafts in a head of the block of cylinders;
– turn camshafts so that cams of the drive of valves of cylinders No. 1 and 2 were directed up;
– grease working surfaces of covers of bearings of camshafts with pure engine oil;
– establish covers of bearings No. 3 and 5 (see
fig. 3.48
);
– tighten nuts of fastening of covers of bearings No. 3 and 5 the moment of 20 N · m, turning their every time serially cross-wise on a half of a turn;
– establish covers of bearings No. 1 and 7 and tighten nuts of fastening of covers the moment of 20 N · m;
– establish covers of bearings No. 2 and 6 and delay fastenings of covers the moment of 20 N · m, turning them serially cross-wise on a half of a turn for one pass;
– establish a cover of the bearing No. 4 and tighten nuts of fastening of a cover the moment of 20 N · m;
– establish asterisks 2 (see
fig. 3.47
) camshafts on the places tighten bolts 4 fastenings of asterisks the moment of 100 N · m, holding camshafts from a provorachivaniye a wrench;
– apply a thin film of sealant on the cleared interfaced surfaces of a cover 6 (see
fig. 3.43
) the GRM drive and a head of the block of cylinders, establish a cover 6 and tighten bolts of the 7th fastening of a cover;
– install the ignition distributor;
– execute other operations in the sequence, the return to removal.
