Repair Volkswagen Passat B3-B4/Passat B3-B4>> Engines>> Petrol engine of configuration of VR6>> Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders
Removal of a head from the engine installed on the car is carried out in the following sequence:
– disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery;
– remove the top casing from the engine;
– remove the protection cover from the ignition distributor;
– disconnect wires of high voltage from an ignition distributor cover;
– remove guides of wires of high voltage;
– turn off nuts of 2
(fig. 3.43)
of fastening of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and uncover 1;
– turn off bolts of 8
(fig. 3.44)
of fastening of the top section of an inlet collector and remove the top section assembled with the case of a butterfly valve and the inlet pipeline;
– turn off nuts of 1
(fig. 3.45)
of fastening of a casing of a final collector and remove a casing 2;
– turn off flange nuts and pick up the phone 3 removals of the fulfilled gases for verification of the contents of CO;
– turn off nuts of the 5th fastening of sections of a final collector and remove section 4;
– remove a GRM drive chain;
– remove the ignition distributor;
– remove a natyazhitel of a chain of the GRM drive;
– turn off bolts 7 (see
fig. 3.43
) fastenings of a cover of the GRM drive and uncover 6;
– turn off bolts of the 9th fastening of a goloka of the block of cylinders in the sequence, their return inhaling

, on one turn for one pass and remove bolts with washers;
– remove a head of the 5th block of cylinders;
– remove laying of the 8th head of the block of cylinders;
– turn off bolts 6 (see
fig. 3.44
) fastenings of the lower section of an inlet collector and remove the lower section 7.
Installation of a head of the block of cylinders is carried out in the following order:
– establish new laying 8 (see
fig. 3.43
) heads of the block of cylinders on adjusting pins the inscription "OBEN/TOP" up, check combination of all openings of laying with the corresponding openings of the block of cylinders;
– establish accurately a head of the 5th block of cylinders;
– insert bolts of the 9th fastening of a head of the block of cylinders with washers and wrap them manually;
– tighten bolts of the 9th fastening of a head of the block of cylinders in the sequence shown in
fig. 3.46
, at first by the moment of 40 N · m, then the moment of 60 N · also tighten m on 180 °;
– establish a GRM drive chain on asterisks of camshafts, check coincidence of adjusting tags;
– establish a cover of 1 head of the block of cylinders with new laying 3 and tighten nuts 2;
– establish the top section 3 (see
fig. 3.44
) an inlet collector and tighten bolts 8. At the same time first of all it is necessary to tighten fastening bolts to the lower section of an inlet collector, and then to a back support;
– execute other operations in the sequence, the return to removal.
After installation adjust an accelerator cable. After launch of the engine check tightness of connections of fuel system, cooling systems and production of the fulfilled gases.
