You carry out removal of brake shoes in the following order:

you will hang out a back part of the car and record on basic racks;

through openings in wheels visually check a condition of external back brake shoes. Internal blocks can be checked, using a small mirror and a portable lamp, examining blocks through openings in a back part of brake supports;

PREVENTION Surely you make replacement of all blocks on one axis of the car even if the limit of wear was reached by one block. If blocks are repeatedly established, before removal they need to be marked.

for check of thickness of overlays of blocks, remove back wheels;

if blocks are reused, put adjusting tags for the subsequent correct installation;

disconnect a cable of the emergency brake from a support;

turn off bolts of fastening of a support, holding the directing finger from a provorachivaniye. Remove a support and, a wire tie up a support to a suspension bracket ( fig. 12.13 );

take brake shoes from a support;

clear a support of dust and dirt;

You carry out installation of brake shoes in the following order:

at installation of new brake shoes it is necessary to press the piston into a support;

PREVENTION At a piston vvinchivaniye brake fluid is forced out from the brake cylinder in a broad tank therefore constantly control the level of brake fluid in a tank. If it is necessary, choose liquid from a tank as the syringe.

press the piston into the cylinder, using the VW 3131 tool, pressing it and rotating clockwise ( fig. 12.14 ), or angular flat-nose pliers for lock rings;

establish brake shoes, watching at the same time that press springs were directed top parallel to the upper edge of brake shoes. At installation of old blocks on adjusting tags be convinced that they are established correctly;

establish a support and you vvyvernit new bolts of fastening of the directing finger;

having connected a cable of the parking brake ( fig. 12.15 ) with a support, establish wheels and check operation of the parking brake;

check the level of brake fluid and if necessary add liquid to normal level;

press a brake pedal in order that blocks reached the working positions.
