Adjustment without special devices

You carry out adjustment of the mechanism of gear shifting in the following order:

weaken a bolt of fastening of a cable to the lever of gear shifting and a nut of fastening of the hinge to the lever of the preliminary choice of transfers;

fix the gear shifting lever, having established a drill or a core in an opening in the center of the lever of gear shifting;

transfer the gear shifting lever to neutral situation;

tighten a bolt and a nut of fastening of cables then check the clearness and smoothness of inclusion of transfers;

check the course of a shaft of the mechanism of the choice of transfers, having included the first transfer and having pressed the gear shifting lever counterclockwise;

having released the lever, measure vertical movement of a shaft of the mechanism of the choice of transfers which has to make 1 mm (fig. 8.58) ;

weaken a nut of fastening of the hinge to the lever of the preliminary choice of transfers and, moving the cable hinge to lever cuts, establish the required movement of a shaft (fig. 8.59) ;

carry out exact adjustment by means of special VW 3192 adaptation.

Adjustment with VW 3192 adaptation

You carry out adjustment of the mechanism of switching of the transmission by means of adaptation in the following order:

install the lever of switching of the transmission in neutral situation and remove the handle from the gear shifting lever;

having removed a protective cover, unscrew a bolt of fastening of a cable (fig. 8.60) of gear shifting and a nut from a tip of a cable of the preliminary choice of transfers so that each cable of switching could move freely in longitudinal openings;

remove the switch of lamps of a backing located on the mechanism of the choice of transfers;

in interior of the car, turn off a bolt in a forward part of the case of the lever of gear shifting and install adjusting adaptation 3192 (fig. 8.61) ;

place a fixing hook of adjusting adaptation under a plate and fix by the screw (2). Shift the lever of gear shifting in a cut of the ram of adjusting adaptation to the left;

shift the lever of gear shifting and adjusting adaptation against the stop to the left and fix the ram by the screw (3);

move the gear shifting lever to cuts of adjusting adaptation to the right and wrap the screw (1);

install a plate with a cut and the directing pin in the switching lever on the transmission. Move a plate between the lever of gear shifting and a cover, trying to obtain sure fixing of a plate (the plate at the same time should not lift the gear shifting lever) (fig. 8.62) ;

fix both cables of gear shifting (the cable between an emphasis and a tightening bolt at the same time has to be tense) and take a plate with the directing pin, and also adjusting adaptation;

the gear shifting lever in neutral situation has to be in a cut 3 and 4 transfers.

having completely squeezed out coupling, consistently include all transfers. If inclusion of some transfer requires more than one attempt, check movement of a shaft of the mechanism of the choice of transfers on the transmission (see fig. 8.58 ).
