Removal
You make removal in the following order:
– disconnect a "minus" wire from the plug of the rechargeable battery;
– weaken a bolt of fastening of the generator to an arm and a bolt of adjustment of a tension of a belt
(fig. 15.6)
, then turn the generator to the engine;
– on the cars equipped with the conditioner and the steering drive with the amplifier first of all take off their driving belts;
– take off a driving belt from pulleys.
Installation and adjustment of a tension
Establish a new driving belt on pulleys, at the same time the belt has to settle down on the center of pulleys.
The tension of a driving belt can be made in two ways.
In the first case weaken an adjusting bolt and rotate a tension mechanism nut so that the generator moved from the engine until the deflection of a driving belt on the middle of a long branch of a belt makes 2,0 mm when pressing by a thumb – for a new belt and 5,0 mm – for the belt which was in the use

. Record a tension mechanism nut in this situation then tighten an adjusting bolt (
fig. 15.12
).
At a belt tension the dynamometer key is required by the second way. Check that the bolt of fastening of the generator to an arm was weakened, and the generator freely moved. Tighten a tension mechanism nut the moment of 8 N · m for a new belt (or 4 N · m for the belt which was in the use), then note position of the generator on an adjusting level. Tighten a bolt of fastening of the generator to an arm and check that the nut of the mechanism of a tension remained in the same situation.
In case of need, carry out repeated adjustment.
Tighten an adjusting bolt.
