Carry out replacement of the filtering element of the air filter in the following order:

– weaken a collar 6 (see fig. 5.8 );
– separate an air duct 7 from a cover 4 filters;
– disconnect spring brackets 8;
– uncover the filter and take the filtering element 3;
– enclose the new filtering element to the place of removed.
You make installation of the removed elements in the sequence, the return to removal.

Check of system of heating  of air at launch of the engine
Heating of the air given to the engine depends on temperature and loading of the engine and is run by the air gate located in the filter case. The air gate is put in action by the vacuum regulator using vacuum of an inlet collector. The thermal vacuum valve in the case of the air filter operates vacuum depending on temperature in an inlet collector. Malfunction of system of heating of air brings to:
to unstable turns of idling at warming up of the engine:
to decrease in acceleration performance of the car;
to reduction of engine capacity;
to the increased fuel consumption.

Carry out check of system of heating of air at launch of the engine equipped with system of injection of Digifant fuel (fig. 5.9) in the following order:
– disconnect a hose from the vacuum chamber of a temperature regulator;
– uncover the air filter and take the filtering element. The air folding gate of the regulator in the case of the air filter has to be in the provision of closing of the channel of supply of the warmed-up air;
– put on an additional hose the union of the vacuum chamber and create vacuum, at the same time the folding gate of the regulator has to move and block the channel of intake of cold air;
– start the engine in the idling mode;
– connect an expansion pipe to a brass pipe and check action of a temperature regulator. Depending on temperature, position of the folding gate of the regulator in twenty seconds has to be the following:
supply of cold air is closed if temperature less than 20 °C;
supply of warm air is closed if temperature more than 30 °C.

Carry out check of system of heating of air at launch of the engine equipped with system of injection of Mono-Jetronic fuel (fig. 5.10) in the following order.
You make check on the cold engine, at air temperature no more than 40 °C.
– uncover the air filter and take the filtering element;
– be convinced that the gate freely moves and on the cold engine blocks supply of the warmed-up air;
– start the engine in the mode of idling and check that the gate moved and blocked supply of cold air;
– if the gate does not move, disconnect lines from a temperature regulator 3 and connect them together;
– if supply of the warmed-up air does not happen, the vacuum chamber 4 is faulty. If the gate blocks supply of cold air, the temperature regulator is faulty.
– during the operation of the engine, position of the gate of the regulator is established by a temperature regulator. At air temperature below 35 °C, the regulator has to be open and intake of cold air is closed. At air temperature more than 45 °C, the regulator has to be closed and open intake of cold air.

Carry out check of system of heating of air at launch of the engine equipped with systems of injection of K-Jetronic and KE-Motronic fuel (fig. 5.11) in the following order:
– uncover the air filter and take the filtering element;
– move a cover aside that the air gate of the regulator was visible;
– start the engine in the idling mode;
– at a temperature below 20 °C, the gate has to close intake of cold air completely;
– at a temperature more than 30 °C, the gate has to turn and close intake of the warmed-up air;
– if the gate does not work, check that it was not jammed.
