You carry out removal of an epiploon of a flange of a half shaft in the following order:

– you will hang out a forward part of the car and record it basic racks;

– turn off bolts of fastening and disconnect a power shaft from a transmission drive flange. When replacing the right sealing ring of differential turn off a counterbalance from the lower frame of steering, and attach an internal part of a power shaft a wire to a body. When replacing the left sealing ring of differential remove a power shaft from the car;

– on cars with the mechanical transmission remove a drive flange from the transmission. For removal of a flange of a half shaft having arranged under a flange on a transmission case steel plates, roll in a flange long bolts until bolts, having rested against plates, do not take a flange from the transmission;

– on cars with the automatic transmission uncover in the central part of a flange, take a spring lock ring and a dish-shaped washer, previously having noted its situation. Take a half shaft flange from the automatic transmission;

– using the corresponding tool or the screw-driver, take an epiploon from a transmission case. Note the provision of an epiploon.

PREVENTION The epiploon and lock spring ring are subject to obligatory replacement.

You carry out installation of an epiploon of a flange of a half shaft in the following order:

– carefully clear a nest for installation of a sealing ring;

– oil working edges of an epiploon. establish an epiploon in a nest, it is correct it having oriented. For installation of an epiploon use a tubular mandrel of the corresponding diameter;

– on cars with the automatic transmission establish a spring in a persistent washer and install them together with a conical ring. Check that the conical ring settled down the party with a zaplechik to a persistent washer;

– oil working edges of an epiploon and establish a half shaft flange. Establish a half shaft flange into place striking to it blows with the hammer through wooden whetstone. Installation of a flange of a half shaft on cars with the automatic transmission requires use of the special VW3109 tool (fig. 9.23) ;

– on cars with the automatic transmission establish a dish-shaped washer, a lock ring and a protective cover;

– install the internal hinge on a flange of a half shaft of the transmission and tighten bolts the regulated moment;

– check oil level in a case of the transmission and if necessary add.
