Repair Volkswagen Passat B3-B4/Passat B3-B4>> Electric equipment>> Rechargeable battery>> Charging of the rechargeable battery
In ordinary use the rechargeable battery does not demand recharge from external sources. Only at long idle time the rechargeable battery demands recharge each 6 weeks. Recharge can be also required when using the car mainly on short trips to night-time. Otherwise need of recharge of the rechargeable battery speaks about malfunction of the last or malfunction in a chain of its charging. When using the charger there is no need of its detachment from a car electrical wiring, however it is necessary to switch off ignition and to leave a cowl open. It is necessary to avoid very bystry charging as it can lead to irreversible damage of the rechargeable battery because of an overheat. At any way of charging electrolyte temperature in the rechargeable battery should not exceed 38 °C. If the rechargeable battery vigorous gas emission in electrolyte strongly heats up or began, charging has to be stopped. Charging has to be made by the direct current equal 1/20 from the capacity of the rechargeable battery. Intensive release of gases from the rechargeable battery and the fact that electrolyte density for the last 3 h charging did not change demonstrates to the termination of charging.
