Repair Volkswagen Passat B3-B4/Passat B3-B4>> Coupling>> Removal and installation of the press and conducted clutch plates
You carry out removal of the press and conducted clutch plates in the following order:
– remove the transmission;
– check existence of the tags defining the provision of the leading part of coupling in relation to a flywheel. In the absence of tags put them;
– alternately cross-wise unscrew 6 bolts of fastening of the leading part of coupling to a flywheel, holding the screw-driver a gear wreath of a flywheel from a provorachivaniye;
– remove press a clutch plate from the directing pins and with it conducted.
You carry out an inspection of technical condition of details of coupling in the following order:

       PREVENTION
When cleaning of pollution of a disk, a casing and a flywheel try not to breathe air from a working zone because the formed dust can contain asbestos particles.

Fig. 7.10. Places of check of a diaphragm spring on wear

– check a condition of a press clutch plate. Development traces on the ends of a diaphragm spring have to make no more than 0,3 mm (fig. 7.10) ;
– check reliability of spring connection between a drive plate and a cover. Existence of scratches and absence or damage of rivets is not allowed;

Fig. 7.11. Check of planeness of a working surface of a press disk

– check press a disk for lack of cracks, a prigar and wear of a surface. Not planeness of a press disk should not exceed 0,2 mm (fig. 7.11) ;
– measure thickness of overlays of a clutch plate. If thickness of less admissible or if heads of rivets are close to a working surface, replace them or a clutch plate;

Fig. 7.12. Check of a face beating of a clutch plate (max. 0,8 mm)

– check a face beating of a clutch plate which at distance of 2,5 mm from outer diameter has to make no more than 0,8 mm (fig. 7.12) ;
– check a condition of a surface of friction of a flywheel for lack of cracks, a prigar and wear of a surface. If necessary, a pereshlifuyta a working surface of a flywheel or replace it.
Carefully clear a shlitsevy part of a main shaft of the transmission and internal vents of the conducted disk, and also the directing plug of the release bearing.
You carry out installation of the conducted and press clutch plates in the following order:
– apply the conducted clutch plate to a flywheel, at the same time the acting part of a nave of a disk has to be directed outside, that is to the transmission;
– establish press a clutch plate on a flywheel, having at the same time established it on the directing pins. At repeated installation of earlier removed conducted clutch plate, check that the tags put before removal are combined;

Fig. 7.14. Centering of the conducted clutch plate by means of a mandrel

– using a special mandrel (fig. 7.13) or an old main shaft of the transmission, center a clutch plate concerning a flywheel (fig. 7.14) ;
– step by step on diagonal tighten bolts of fastening of a press clutch plate the required moment. Take a mandrel from a clutch plate;
– be convinced that vents of a main shaft of the transmission and the directing plug of the bearing are cleared of dirt. Grease a shlitsevy part of a main shaft of the transmission and the directing plug of the release bearing with a thin layer of special lubricant;
– install into place the transmission.

       PREVENTION
The layer of lubricant has to be thin and uniform, otherwise during the coupling work surplus of lubricant can get on the working surfaces of coupling that will lead to violation of its work.
