Treat a cooler of transmission liquid with the filter units on which first of all reliability and durability of transmission depend and the liquid receiver with the mesh filter of rough cleaning located in the pallet from the lower party of a case. In need of discharge of liquid from a transmission case, and also for access to the receiver of liquid and other details of the block of valves the pallet can be removed.
At a big run of the car tightness of epiploons of flanges of differential can be broken owing to what lowering of the level of oil in the main transfer is possible. If necessary epiploons can be replaced, without removing the transmission.

Cooler
The cooler represents the two-chamber heat exchanger located in the top part of a case of transmission. On one camera of a cooler cooling liquid from the engine, and on another — transmission liquid circulates that promotes maintenance of thermal balance. If temperature of transmission liquid exceeds temperature of cooling liquid, heat is transferred to the last and temperature of transmission liquid decreases. The cooler does not demand periodic service. Exceptions are leak of cooling liquid or damage of a cooler.

In need of replacement of a cooler (fig. 8.73) surely replace sealing ring laying.

Modification of the filter
The filter of transmission liquid was installed on cars 1990 and the beginnings of 1991 of release, but in February, 1991 the release of these details stopped. Replacement of elements can be made in the specialized centers "Volkswagen" during the period before the next maintenance.
At removal of the filter wrap up rags its basis not to spill liquid on a case. It is necessary to unscrew the filter of transmission liquid for a fringing in the top part of the case, or a tape stripper for an otvorachivaniye of an oil filter of the engine. Remove the filter, previously having waited so far liquid will not flow down from the filter back in a cooler. Wipe the place of a prileganiye of the filter with pure fabric and wrap a bolt with new ring laying.

The pallet, the receiver of liquid and the block of valves are placed in the lower part of a case of transmission (fig. 8.74) . Before installation of the receiver of liquid previously establish laying in a seat.
At installation of the pallet track correctness of laying of consolidation on a contour around the pallet. Before tightening of bolts be convinced available remote plugs on all four angular openings.

Half shaft flange epiploon
Epiploons of flanges of a half shaft can be replaced, without removing transmission. Removal of a flange requires a stripper like VW 39, приворачивающийся by bolts to a flange and the removing flange due to ongoing effort.

       PREVENTION
When using a stripper of other design it is necessary to provide its such landing which would exclude damage of a female thread of the leading shaft of differential.

       NOTE
For access to the left flange it is necessary to dismantle a half shaft completely.

You make replacement of an epiploon of a half shaft in the following order:
turn out a six-sided key bolts of fastening and disconnect the internal hinge from a flange;

       PREVENTION
To avoid damage of the external hinge, fix the disconnected part of a half shaft by a hook from a rigid wire;

take a dustproof cover and remove the spring lock ring holding a flange on a shaft. By means of a stripper press a flange from a shaft;

       PREVENTION
The otvorachivaniye of a bolt of the limiter screwed in a case near a flange is not allowed. The limiter (fig. 8.75) is intended only for providing a preliminary tightness of the bearing.

take an epiploon from a flute by means of a stripper of VW 681 or having accurately hooked it the screw-driver. Try not to scratch at the same time a flute surface under an epiploon or an adjacent surface;

fill a cavity of a new epiploon with universal lubricant then press an epiploon into place before full landing (see fig. 8.75 );
check existence of wear on the flange surface interfaced to an epiploon. At too big development replace a flange;

establish a flange into place by means of adaptation with the bolt which is rolled in the leading shaft (fig. 8.76) ;
put on a flange shaft a new lock ring from an end face. Without making big effort, establish a ring before dense landing in a shaft flute;
attach the hinge to a half shaft flange.
